He might indeed end up being similar in philosophy to the Justice he replaces, who is also someone that he worked for. But this being chess and not checkers, I also wonder if he’s being put out there to get nuked, so that Trump can nominate Amy Coney-Barrett closer to the election this fall, and put the vulnerable Senate Democrats in a bigger pickle.
