Steve Forbes

The treatment of conservative women by the leftists in our media is as disgusting as it is predictable. Simple as that. While leftism itself is drenched in hypocrisy, there is simply no better example of that than their treatment of women who don't see the world in leftist hues...

Pelosi Clashes With Chris Cuomo on Nunes Memo: ‘You Really Don’t Know What You’re Talking About’

In the beginning, I took this whole "memo" thing to be nothing more than another partisan trifle. But to hear how Democrats seem to be so hell-bent on it never seeing the light of day, now I might actually start paying more attention to it. One doesn't push back this hard against something if it's full of lies, is all I'm saying.

NBC host duped by North Korea after reporting from 'staged' ski resort

In 1932, New York Times Moscow bureau chief Walter Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for numerous reports about the Soviet Union under Stalin. Many years later, after the horrors of the famine in Ukraine and the millions of deaths of Russians and Ukrainians were learned, even Duranty's own paper admitted that his blatant denials of the Russian famine amounted to "some of the worst reporting to appear in this newspaper". Duranty was clearly a "useful idiot", despite his credentials as among the most reputable journalists of his time. With that, here is NBC's Lester Holt reporting from North Korea....

Trump plan offers citizenship path to 1.8 million immigrants

There's a saying that goes something like, if both extremes are upset over a piece of legislation, then it probably has merit. After weeks of Americans hearing the number of "Dreamers" pegged at 800,000, Trump unveils a proposal for a path to citizenship that is nearly 250% LARGER than that number. The immigration hard liners on the right are upset, but the open borders crowd on the left is also upset because of the border wall funding and other immigration curtailments. But this proposal shows a willingness to compromise, to make a deal, and to seem reasonable. Which is something that should be expected when one elects a non-ideologue to the nation's highest office. It also belies the "Donald Trump hates brown people" narrative that people irresponsibly throw around. Now it's possible that the Republicans will squash this before it gets very far, but I really hope it goes down because of the Democrats. Because as I said days ago, they don't ACTUALLY want a deal. I don't think they do, anyway. They want a campaign issue for 2018. They can't give Trump a legislative victory, and they SURELY don't want to give him one on this!!

Iran’s Fast Boats Stop Harassing U.S. Navy, Baffling Military

I don't know if this is a calm before the storm kind of thing, but rest assured that if the 2016 election had gone another way, this story would be touted as a positive side effect of the nuclear deal. And the wisdom of Democratic foreign policy. But with a combative president currently in office who has been throwing tomatoes (and thankfully nothing else) at the ayatollahs, that argument can't be credibly made, so instead people largely ignore the story. There's a reason that this article appears in the Wall Street Journal and not the New York Times, Washington Post, or on any of the broadcast networks. Can't have positive stories like this out there, now can we? I've said it for years... what ISN'T reported is every bit as significant as what IS...

Starbucks is giving baristas paid sick leave and stock bonuses

Verizon and Disney also announced bonuses and stock grants earlier this week. But Democratic Party leadership calls these measures "crumbs". There is perhaps no better example of how out-of-touch that party is to people who have to work for a living in this country. It amazes me that the billionaire president has a better insight into the struggles of the working man than the Minority Leader and, by extension, the party she leads.

Why is liberal California the poverty capital of America?

They answer their own question within the question itself... "With a permanent majority in the state Senate and the Assembly, a prolonged dominance in the executive branch and a weak opposition, California Democrats have long been free to indulge blue-state ideology while paying little or no political price. The state's poverty problem is unlikely to improve while policymakers remain unwilling to unleash the engines of economic prosperity that drove California to its golden years."

Immigration activists outraged with Democrats over Senate vote to end government shutdown

"They caved in early September, but promised to use their leverage in early December. They caved in early December, but promised to use their leverage by the end of the year. They caved at the end of the year, but they promised to use their leverage in January," Levin continued. "And now they caved again, but promised to use their leverage in February. Democrats clearly want to keep Dreamers as a talking point, but they need to grow a spine and actually fight for the Dream Act." I think some on the hard left are finally getting it. Because no matter what Schumer and other party leaders tell you, the Democrats do not actually want a deal on the "Dreamers". No, they want a campaign issue that they can hammer the Republicans with right through the mid-term elections this November. Part of me wonders if the best thing the Republicans could do is actually give them a deal...

Opinion | Oprah, Don’t Do It

"Indeed, the magical thinking fueling the idea of Oprah in 2020 is a worrisome sign about the state of the Democratic Party. That Ms. Winfrey could probably beat those considered likely front-runners — Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kirsten Gillibrand — is testament to how demoralized and devoid of fresh political talent the post-Obama party has become." Indeed. What new ideas are the Democrats talking about? Because all I hear them talking about on TV is Russia, collusion, obstruction of justice, the 25th amendment, Trump's mental fitness, scaremongering over the tax cut which has (rightfully) embarrassed them badly, and Russia again. None of that puts food on the table in Wisconsin or Michigan or Pennsylvania. But by all means, try to shove Bernie aside for someone else so that you can continue the identity politics thing. It's just about all the Democrats have left!! Though in fairness, Oprah scares me a bit for 2020. She will get into office and do whatever Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer tell her to do. For all his faults, at least Trump is his own guy...

Stephen Colbert Grills Michael Wolff Over ‘Fire and Fury’: Why Not Release the Tapes?

Is it just me, or does this guy look like Dr. Evil with glasses? But that aside, it seems like even notorious Trump-critic Stephen Colbert is taking some of the allegations in this book with a grain of salt. And some of the claims are pretty unbelievable. Because in my truth, one cannot "collude with Russia" to get a job that one "doesn't want" in the first place. It simply makes no sense. But whatever, this is all that some people have going for them, so enjoy this work that is clearly at best partly a work of fiction...
