Armour: Tom Brady has some explaining to do on Donald Trump

It's an opinion piece, but as I'm told it was on the cover of USA Today. So if we're keeping score, we had the 2016 Oscars pilloried because a bunch of Academy voters (who are overwhelmingly progressive leftists) weren't exactly diverse in their nominees. We've since then seen other awards shows lecture us about other topics. We've had Starbucks trying to lecture us on race relations while waiting for our non-fat mocha frappuchino grande. We've seen the un-funny Seth Rogen and even un-funnier Amy Schumer steal money in their moronic "Bud Light Party" ad campaigns that were long on left-wing talking points and short on humor. We paid more attention to a poor football team led by an even worse coach all because a player wanted attention for something other than his craft. We've seen musical acts pull concert dates from a state that disagrees with them on bathroom (and locker room) use, while punishing their fans in the process. We've seen wave after wave of celebrity PSAs imploring one group after another to stand up for what's right. We can't turn on the TV, we can't go to a concert, we can watch a commercial, we can't watch a football game, heck we can't even get an overpriced lite caramel macchiato with whipped cream and Splenda without being inundated with political messages. And now when someone mercifully DOESN'T want to talk about politics, before the biggest TV and social event of the year, some people feel he ought to speak out anyway. And we wonder why FaceBook looks like it does these days, and people feel like they're constantly being attacked. Or, perhaps we don't wonder that at all...

Terrorists Once Used Refugee Program to Settle in US

I'll probably get unfollowed for this, but can we PLEASE be just a little bit objective these days? From the article: "In the wake of the Kentucky case, the U.S. halted the refugee program for Iraqis for six months, a fact the Obama administration did not disclose to Congress at the time, officials told ABC News in the 2013 investigation." No protests, no outrage, hell, nobody even seemed to know about it!! So if you're seeing red today, why weren't you when Obama did it? By the way, while under this temporary-but-still-longer-than-Trump's pause, an Iraqi man who served as an interpreter for American troops was assassinated as he tried to get over here. One final point: please stop calling it a Muslim ban. The seven countries represent about 12% of the global Muslim population. Calling it a Muslim ban only inflames tensions. Maybe that's what the media wants. I'd prefer to see those who have served our military (and their families, who are targets) be exempted. Hell, they should have their citizenship fast-tracked! Anyway, what am I getting wrong here? What's different this time, other than an expanded list of countries (most of whom have no central government)? Is it the public spectacle of people being detained and sent home? Do we honestly think that the same thing didn't happen when Obama suspended the refugee program? Where were the protests? Where were the TV news cameras? Where was the moral outrage that clogs my newsfeed this morning? I'm seriously trying to piece together why one time this was acceptable but now it is not, but I'm coming up short. If someone can educate me without attacking, that'd be super...

President Ronald Reagan’s Speech on Space Shuttle Challenger

Probably his finest speech. Sad to say that for all the comparisons (age, previous career as entertainer, one-time Democrat), our current president is incapable of such a speech, and of such uplifting language in a time of uncertainty. If you're of a certain age, you remember either watching it live or hearing about it rather quickly. I think it was Sister Jean that came into Miss O'Haren's class, where I was, to say that there was an accident. I might have the years wrong, at this point in my life. Kids these days take TVs in the classroom for granted, but back in my day they were those big dusty boxes that hung from the ceiling and were rarely turned on. So this was a big deal, back when the space program was still something that we followed closely. Thirty one years ago today...

Trump fails to mention Jews in Holocaust remembrance statement

If anyone is still wondering why I don't take the media seriously, and haven't for some time, it's because of these kinds of stories. This story was likely written entirely by Trump's son in law Jared Kushner, who is an Orthodox Jew. He is SO observant (as is favorite child Ivanka), that they had to get special permission from a rabbi to attend the inauguration last Friday. Yet stories like this are written to advance the whole "Trump is an anti-Semite" narrative. The media has essentially become a caricature. The need to report the news, not try to shape public opinion. This is not a news story.

Chelsea Handler Shames, Bullies Melania Trump Over English

For the life of me, I will never understand the cruelty that some women show to other women. It's as baffling to me as how "comediennes" become infinitely less funny when they decide to get political. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Rosie O'Donnell, Amy Schumer, and now an apparently drunken Chelsea Handler... all of them suddenly seem to be a lot less humorous. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that they have already made their money. And I can't help but wonder if Handler would have made the same comments if her name was Melania Martinez-Trump...

I don't even lay this at the feet of the anti-Trump people. This was largely the work of anarchists, and from everything I've read (dubious as that can be these days), the rest of the day was largely trouble free. But in addition to burning out a limo owned by a Muslim migrant, these vandals ALSO busted out the windows of a Starbucks and a Bank of America; two companies that donated heavily to the Clinton campaign. You honestly can't make this stuff up!!

G.O.P. Senators Hope to Speed Trump Cabinet Confirmations

On this day in US History: The Senate confirmed Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. By this point, president Obama had most of his cabinet positions installed despite Republican "obstructionism". Now many will defend this delay, citing the talking point about paperwork not being submitted in a timely fashion and whatnot. But, as one Senator is quoted as saying: “I’ve noticed that the questioning frequently has an edge to it,” said Senator Susan Collins, Republican of Maine. “That is not to say that there aren’t legitimate questions to be asked of the nominees. But it’s the way they’re asked that I’ve found to be different this time.” This is next-level obstructionism. Kind of makes you wonder who is now the one allegedly putting party before country...

Senate Confirms Nominations Of James Mattis, John Kelly

"The two expected confirmations were fewer than the seven targeted by the Trump transition team. They had hoped to meet the number that President Barack Obama had on his Inauguration Day, but Senate Democrats have objected to many of Trump’s nominees." A little foolish for Trump's people to believe that the Democrats would be as helpful as the Republicans were in early 2009. As if the GOP didn't also have grave concerns about several of Obama's cabinet picks!! No matter, they rolled anyway. And did they get any credit for being deferential to the incoming president? Russia cites "threat" as US troops and tanks roll into Poland, defending NATO from Vladimir Putin

So six years after Russia involved themselves in the Syrian civil war, backing the "wrong side", and almost three years after Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine, president Obama FINALLY decides that Vladimir Putin is a problem to be dealt with. But make no mistake, this move has NOTHING to do with Putin and EVERYTHING to do with Trump. Because when Trump pulls the troops and the tanks from Poland, which reason suggests that he does, then he will be seen as a stooge for the Kremlin. 11 times electoral vote count was interrupted

Behold, one of the drawbacks of gerrymandering. Safe seats that allow people to be utter jack-offs. Let's run down this list of cretins and see which one will actually pay a political price for their ass-hattery: - Jim McGovern and Raul Grijalva both didn't even face an opponent in 2016. - Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson-Lee both garnered 50 point wins in their contests. - Barbara Lee got 90% of her district's vote - Jamie Raskin got 60.6% of the vote, and scored a 25 point win. - In the closest race, Pramila Jayapal got 56% of the vote for an 11-point win. The asterisk here? Her opponent was ANOTHER DEMOCRAT!! Spoiled children acting up for their fringe base. And these people believe themselves to be leaders. Deplorable. America is watching.

NOTE 1: Apologies for linking to a tabloid, but it seems that major media isn't the slightest bit interested in this story. It IS a bit of a trifle, after all... NOTE 2: President Obama deserves all the protections currently afforded other ex-presidents. Further, I have no reason to believe that any of this is being done on the taxpayer's nickel.
