Analysis | News coverage of Trump is really, really negative. Even on Fox News.
Not saying he doesn't deserve a lot of it, but it's certainly quite over the top at this point....

Tom Perez elected DNC chair
Democrats avert disaster. Perez smartly names Ellison deputy DNC chair. Time will tell if the Bernie folks end up accepting what some may call a second slap in the face by the establishment in less than a year. With the race so close, that might not be a slam dunk. But they made the right call, says the outsider...

A state senator is removed from the chamber for her comments about Tom Hayden and Vietnam
Female Senator offers a different perspective on a former colleague than the majority in the chamber wish to hear. White male Senate majority leader cuts her mic as she begins her speech. Nevertheless, #shepersisted. Eventually, she posted the full context of her speech online. Senator Elizabeth Warren? Pffft. Hell no!! This woman is an actual minority, AND she came to America as a refugee.

Despite the Hysteria, Trump Is Trending Less Authoritarian Than Obama
One more, then bedtime: People fearing Donald Trump's authoritarianism should perhaps educate themselves on what the word actually means.... and while National Review is a conservative opinion outfit, these are the folks who vocally opposed Trump even AFTER he got the nomination. And David French himself was rumored to be at the top of Bill Kristol's ill-fated attempt at running as a third party candidate. So there's no love lost here, is what I'm saying...

Alan Dershowitz: Why I Will Leave the Democratic Party If Ellison Is Elected its Chairman
"He first claimed to realize that Farrakhan was an anti-Semite when he ran for office seeking Jewish support. His claim to be a supporter of Israel was timed to coincide with his run for the chairmanship of DNC. I do not trust him. I do not believe him. And neither should any centrist liberal supporters of Israel and opponents of anti-Semitism." Curious that the dead-on-arrival "Donald Trump is an anti-Semite" campaign coincides with the real choice that Democrats face tomorrow. Why, if I didn't know any better, I'd swear that people were running interference for an ACTUAL anti-Semite...

Slate Declares Alan Colmes ‘Buffoon,’ ‘Liberal Weakling’ Only Hours After His Death
In the race to the bottom between the hack progressive hamster-cage liners of Vox, Slate, Mother Jones, and Salon, it looks like Slate has taken a commanding lead. Because of COURSE the death of a liberal who had a god working relationship with many conservatives is an opportunity for hackery. Christ, we need MORE of people like him, not less. I know I elevate Slate by even talking about them. Still, it's worth pointing out...

A Rape Survivor Speaks Out About Transgender Bathrooms
Interesting thing about this whole bathroom idiocy; most of the people I've seen who argue in favor of people using whichever bathroom they choose are men. I often make light of how easily people (usually college students) are "triggered" these days, but that doesn't mean that triggering isn't still a thing. And I can't think of anything more triggering for a victim of sexual abuse than to see a male anatomy in a locker room where it's not expected. And make no mistake, there is ZERO difference made between a bathroom (where at least there are doors) and a locker room (where there aren't). That's the little trick they pull. At BEST, this is not an issue that the Federal government should be involved in. Because if we're looking for the Feds to tell us which bathroom we're allowed to use, and we think that this is a super important issue in today's world, then we are in DEEP trouble as a country....

How to Beat the High Cost of Learning
"A January report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says that the number of student debtors older than 60 has quadrupled in a decade." Let that sink in. The number of Americans 60 and older holding student loan debt has QUADRUPLED in only 10 years!! What is watered will grow...

Defense Secretary Mattis issues new ultimatum to NATO allies on defense spending
There's a reason why so much of Europe can provide so much for their citizens, like "free" healthcare and "free" college; most of that would evaporate if they actually paid for their own national defense, instead of outsourcing it to us...

More mainstream media mess-ups: The Muslim Olympian 'detained because of President Trump's travel ban' was detained under Obama
This week in Fake News: What you heard: That Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad was detained after Donald Trump's executive order on immigration. What you DIDN'T hear: That Muhammad's experience happened all the way back in December. But then again, I'm told that there's absolutely no media bias, and it's all just in my head. I think I might be getting worse...

Whistleblower reveals passport fraud
While folks from Venezuela will still need visas to enter the US, this is still troubling in terms of the global war on terror, especially for Europe. Unless you believe that Venezuela is the only massively corrupt, low-energy country that has ever engaged in this type of behavior...

Labrador proposes term-limit amendment
If there was ever a more dead-on-arrival piece of legislation, boy I sure haven't seen it!! I'm somewhat encouraged that the bill has twelve co-sponsors. But I'm a good deal LESS encouraged when I see that not a single one of those twelve are Democrats (according to GovTrack). Draw whatever conclusions make you comfortable from that information. My conclusion? That the Democrats don't see lifelong politicians as a problem. And looking at the tenure of their leadership, that comes from the top...

What Do Europeans Think About Muslim Immigration?
I am neither speaking in favor of nor in opposition to anything that anyone has signed as an executive memorandum or executive action. I'm merely making the observation that if this poll of ten thousand Europeans was NOT in agreement with what had been implemented here in the US, I'd be hearing a little bit more about it in my newsfeed, or perhaps on the actual news. Whatever that is, these days...

Sanitation crews work to remove massive amounts of garbage from DAPL protest camp before spring thaw
For months, people from all over the country have been protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. Their concern? That a pipeline could threaten the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The protesters have left behind literally TONS of garbage, which is now frozen into solid chunks that hinders its removal. If authorities don't clear the protest sites soon, the massive amounts of waste will likely contaminate... wait for it... THE WATER SUPPLY OF THE STANDING ROCK SIOUX TRIBE!!

Waters: Trump 'leading himself' to impeachment
"She also incorrectly said that Trump "is wrapping his arms around Putin, while Putin is continuing to advance into Korea" -- apparently meaning to reference the Crimea." U.S. Students Slide In Global Ranking On Math, Reading, Science
"In mathematics, 29 nations and other jurisdictions outperformed the United States by a statistically significant margin, up from 23 three years ago... In science, 22 education systems scored above the U.S. average, up from 18 in 2009... In reading, 19 other locales scored higher than U.S. students — a jump from nine in 2009, when the last assessment was performed..." I keep hearing this Betsy DeVos person is a grave threat to education. Or maybe they were talking about the grizzlies. But if these numbers are accurate, it seems to me that education in this country is already a dumpster fire. ESPECIALLY considering that we spend more per capita on education than any developed nation except perhaps Switzerland (which at least churns out kids that are fluent in three languages). Maybe a new way of looking at things isn't the worst thing imaginable...

16 Fake News Stories Reporters Have Run Since Trump Won
"Why is this happening? Why are our media so regularly and so profoundly debasing and beclowning themselves, lying to the public and sullying our national discourse—sometimes on a daily basis? How has it come to this point?" I think we know why, don't we? This is reasons number 3,256 through 3,272 why I don't take the media seriously anymore. Mexican government says Trump never threatened to send troops to Mexico
So in his first press briefing as press secretary, Sean Spicer broke protocol by NOT calling on the Associated Press for the first question. This was a long-standing tradition, but if people really still needed to be reminded that things are different these days, they were surely reminded that day. When the AP reporter was finally called upon (they had to wait for an appalling FOUR other outlets), the reporter sniffed that they were not used to having to wait that long to ask a question!! Well, apparently the AP decided that they'd retaliate with a little "fake news". And if you've listened to me at all over the years (translation: if you haven't grown tired of me yet), you know that I obsess with how things are reported. And it seems here that the AP just saw a story that they couldn't pass up, no matter how untrue it was. Because when even MEXICO calls you out on your bullshit...

Neil Gorsuch Founded ‘Fascism Forever Club,' Report Says
So the story has been debunked for many hours now, yet it still shows up in my Yahoo (fake) newsfeed. And here it is as well, appearing without any correction or editor's note. It's really not super-hard to avoid falling into these traps. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Especially for over-eager leftists and reporters (but I repeat myself). Geez, even Snopes rates this one as "False"!!

Chuck Schumer has the hardest job in America right now. Is it worth illustrating to people (yet again) about how the two fringes in this country react to losing elections? It's not every day you get to watch a major political party completely nuke itself...
