Becoming A Racist: The Unfortunate Side Effect Of Serving Your Country?

When someone from my side of the political spectrum hears that someone is a veteran, they are thought of as heroes, and people who were willing to sacrifice more of themselves than most are willing to in this country. Their sacrifice is respected, in other words, and they're given the benefit of the doubt until they lose it. When someone from the other side of the spectrum hears that someone is a veteran, their first instinct is to think of them as a closeted racist, and thus have to prove themselves as worthy of respect. At least, that's how I interpret the premise of this piece. Because Huffington Post long ago has lost the right to be given the benefit of the doubt...
