Steyer floats, quickly walks back 'nuclear war' as 'course correction' for Trump

A week or two back, the far-too-influential Bill Maher was unapologetic in rooting for another economic collapse - an event that wouldn't do a lick of damage to the very wealthy Maher - if it meant getting rid of Trump. Now we have a multi-billionaire Democrat mega-donor rooting for nuclear war to do the same. Now sure, he walks it back almost immediately, but there seems to be this belief among the left that people need to be really bad off in order for them to turn to the Democrats. It's almost like continued success just gets them more and more riled up, as if succeeding actually damages Democrats in some way, so people must be kept continually angry. Wait a minute...

Hey, Democrats: Pack The Court

Even Democrats hated it when FDR tried to pack the court in the 1930s. It strikes me that their attitudes would be a bit different today, however...

Sarah Sanders Reportedly To Get Temporary Secret Service Protection

When Robert Gibbs repeatedly lied to millions of Americans by saying that they would be able to keep their insurance when he knew that was false, he could go out to eat anywhere in the DC-area and not be bothered. When Jay Carney repeatedly lied to millions of Americans by trying to deflect and deceive regarding the Benghazi attacks during a presidential election, he could go see whatever movie he wished without worrying about getting hassled while buttering his popcorn. When Josh Earnest repeatedly lied to Americans about the legality of the Iran nuclear deal and the prisoner exchange for a military deserter, he was able to walk around the streets in public without being stopped and interrogated. All Democrats, al MEN, all completely safe from the supposedly crazy right wing fringe. But as soon as a woman gets in there... So hold your heads high, leftists. You've somehow managed to surrender whatever moral high ground you ever thought you had regarding civility, high roads, or female empowerment.

Sarah Sanders to receive Secret Service protection

As condescending and dismissive as Josh Earnest and Robert Gibbs and Jay Carney ever were, it never came to this. They all served during the infamous "Tea Party" era, and yet they were never themselves in physical danger. As violent as everyone was told that the fringe right was and is, this never was necessary. And it's not like Secret Service has a limitless well of resources to offer this kind of protection, so there must be a credible reason to offer it, however temporarily. So hold your heads high today, #resistance!!

DISGUSTING: Fueled By His Hate For Muslims, Trump Went Back In Time And Made Obama Pick The Countries Targeted By His Travel Ban

Because nothing says "Muslim ban" quite like the inclusion of North Korea and Venezuela. And yeah, Trump himself called it a Muslim ban. He could have called it a giraffe. Would that have made it one?

The left loses its cool

I absolutely reject the comparison of 2018 to 2010. Angrily confronting a congressional Democratic representative in a capacity that they ran to accept back in 2010 is one thing. But angrily confronting the closest convenient Republican when trying to eat dinner or watch a movie with their family or friends in 2018 is something way worse. Harassing a woman while she's trying to watch a movie about Mister Rogers is easily the most ironic thing I've read in a long time. It doesn't open dialog in the slightest; it makes people dig in deeper.

Dem Sen. Tammy Baldwin Stumbles When CNN Anchor Asks If Obama Family Separation "Outraged" Her

The answer she never gets around to giving is "no", she never called out immigration procedures under Obama. Because if she DID admit the truth, then she'd be admitting what most on my side have been saying all week; that this crisis is only being discussed to brighten the political fortunes for the Democrats this fall. Fortunes that were looking more and more grim over the past couple weeks. And the most curious part of this nonsensical rambling is that Baldwin eventually comes around to saying how Congress needs to work together to solve this. Which is the exact OPPOSITE of what Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer said earlier this week. Because he knows that the Democrats stand to benefit more from the problem, so a solution from Congress is actually the LAST thing he wants. I simply do not buy any Democrat politician suddenly finding religion on this matter. They're not credible, and that point can not be proved any better than Tammy Baldwin, Democrat Senator from Wisconsin.

California and 9 other states plan to sue Trump administration for separating immigrant families

This is called “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”. Most of these states are solidly Democrat, but the blue states with Republican governors in this list have an election this fall to worry about. Even when Trump caves to public pressure, it’s STILL not ever going to be enough for some. Because people want this story in the news. For the obvious reason. If you give a mouse a cookie...

Schumer rejects GOP proposal to address border crisis

We'll see where this all ends up, of course, but experience has taught me that the Democrats don't really care about ending suffering at the southern border when they clearly believe that they benefit from it. Why would they want that to end, especially in an election year? They're campaigning on it and raising far too much money from the problem to even consider working towards a solution!! Perhaps the greatest irony is that Schumer actually suggests that the president should unilaterally change things on his own. In other words, disregard the judicial ruling that states children should be separated and only follow the laws and rulings that he likes. We just went through eight years of that. If Trump was that kind of tyrant, he'd have told the circuit courts to shove it and implement his travel restrictions anyway. But he didn't. Clearly, he's the worst authoritarian ever!! This border situation should change legislatively, but Schumer doesn't want to appear to be working with Republicans in an election year. They won't SAY that, of course, because they want to appear noble. I dunno, just my take.

Trey Gowdy hammers FBI director's response to IG report: 'I'm sorry, you're wrong'

Trey Gowdy used to be a rock star in the GOP. He was often forceful in his calling out of the Obama administration on their frequent bullshit. So it was thought that when Trump was elected, Gowdy might be a similar voice in support of the administration. That hasn’t happened, though. In fact, Gowdy’s frequent defense of the FBI and the appropriateness of the Mueller probe have dimmed his star considerably. Indeed, he’s fallen so far that he is one of many Republicans not seeking re-election this fall, though it’s almost assured. So it’s relevant that the scales have fallen from his eyes with regard to the FBI in light of the Inspector General’s report. What’s also noteworthy is that frequent articles from CNN and other news outlets have picked up articles citing his past defense of the FBI, and even of Paul Ryan’s concurrence with Gowdy, yet I have to go to a tabloid to get an article reporting on his harsh criticism. Read both sides, people. But first acknowledge that there are two sides to the news. Because there are, and it’s been that way for quite a while now.

Bill Maher Is Hoping America Suffers a Crippling ‘Recession’ to Get Rid of Trump

Maher is not incorrect. He's WRONG to wish such for a thing, but he's not incorrect in believing that another financial kick to the groin is about the only thing preventing four more years of Trump. It's worth noting, however, that rooting for hardship is quite similar to the Rush Limbaugh "I hope he fails" comment from 2008. Yet I doubt Maher will get one tenth of the flak that Limbaugh got. Because, as I'm fond of saying, if not for double standards the American left would have no standards at all.
