Trey Gowdy used to be a rock star in the GOP. He was often forceful in his calling out of the Obama administration on their frequent bullshit. So it was thought that when Trump was elected, Gowdy might be a similar voice in support of the administration. That hasn’t happened, though. In fact, Gowdy’s frequent defense of the FBI and the appropriateness of the Mueller probe have dimmed his star considerably. Indeed, he’s fallen so far that he is one of many Republicans not seeking re-election this fall, though it’s almost assured. So it’s relevant that the scales have fallen from his eyes with regard to the FBI in light of the Inspector General’s report. What’s also noteworthy is that frequent articles from CNN and other news outlets have picked up articles citing his past defense of the FBI, and even of Paul Ryan’s concurrence with Gowdy, yet I have to go to a tabloid to get an article reporting on his harsh criticism. Read both sides, people. But first acknowledge that there are two sides to the news. Because there are, and it’s been that way for quite a while now.
