Since I don't think I'm actually on record saying that the original projections for this were very exorbitant and unrealistic, saying "I told you so" would be a little inappropriate. Still, this was pretty predictable....

Farmers’ markets called racist: ‘Habits of white people are normalized,’ professors claim
So last week, two professors told us that behaving equally nicely to people of differing races was actually a form of racism. This week, two different university professors now deem that the good old fashioned Farmer's Market is racist. Remember kids, if EVERYTHING is racist, then nothing is. Racism is still a problem in this country, but when you've called anything from milk (Mother Jones, 2016) to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (HuffPo, 2012), it is very easy for people to simply dismiss any legitimate claim of racism as leftists being insane again. Here's a unique idea about what could be considered racist: educated white liberals believing that minorities can't stand up for themselves and don't recognize racism when they see it...

Vanity Fair Gets Called Out For Suggesting Hillary Clinton Take Up Knitting
Just as my progressive friends enjoy when the right tears into itself, I get similar enjoyment from when the left unloads on the left. Shooting inside the tent has for years been primarily a Republican thing. That the left is clearly at war with itself tells me that there is quite the power struggle going on, though it is barely being covered....

Christians in Mosul celebrate Christmas for the first time in four years
A few days before Christmas, CNN ran an in-depth story on a new children's book about a gay black Santa. For over FOUR MINUTES they droned on and on about it, heaping praise on the author who basically admitted that he wrote it to troll adults, not inspire children. Now in truth, the last couple days for me have been tied up with seeing family and watching Ralphie shoot his eye out, but I'm going out on a limb here and saying that I'm doubting CNN has bothered to cover this significant story. No mention of it on CNN's home page, and the front of their "World" section has a lead story with the headline "Topless protester tries to grab baby Jesus figure at Vatican". You be the judge as to which is the larger story...

Senate GOP
I normally give the media a hard time, because they deserve it, but kudos to them here for actually painting a more fair picture. What's curious, though, is how suprised everyone reacts. They were SURE that their taxes were going up. I can't blame them, really. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer and countless other Democrats had been lying to them for months about what the Republicans were actually trying to do. Now, this might not change anyone's vote to Republican, maybe they'll be a little more skeptical of what the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) tries to sell them in the future...

Analysis from Liberal Tax Policy Center: Actually, EIGHTY PERCENT of Americans Get a Tax Cut Under the GOP Plan
"Bottom 80% currently pays 33% of all federal income taxes, but gets 35% of the tax cuts. Top 1% currently pays 27% of all federal taxes, but gets 21% of the tax cuts. So the share of all federal taxes paid by wealthy will rise." It is a quote that should mean nothing to the left, except that it comes from their side. The Tax Policy Center is a joint venture between the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute. The latter of which was founded by mister Great Society himself, LBJ. Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you what's going to happen based on a bill that I've neither read nor care to read. What I WILL tell you is how the media will spin it. Negatively.

There Are Lots of Good Reasons to Kill Net Neutrality; Also, to Keep It
If the internet is truly broken, people won't even see this, so whatever. But if it ISN'T, then what people will read (if they're so inclined) is a well-reasoned breakdown of the issue. One which, candidly, I'm still trying to get myself worked up over. So far I've only managed to conjure a mild indifference. One thing that the internet has taught me is to never take seriously the person who tells you that everyone is going to die or that the world is coming to an end. Election fraud charges filed in 197th District special election

This is Philly, after all!! But in the end, these stories all seem to have similar elements. And if you know me at all, you know what I think those elements are....

Former NPR CEO opens up about liberal media bias
"When you are liberal, and everyone else around you is as well, it is easy to fall into groupthink on what stories are important, what sources are legitimate and what the narrative of the day will be." Think about what you see in the news, and also what you DON'T see. I'm not just imagining that there's a liberal bias...

Florida Democrat calls Niger ambush 'Trump's Benghazi'
Trump's Benghazi? I dunno. Wake me when we uncover months of e-mails asking for additional security that were denied by Secretary of State Trump, when we hear Sarah Huckabee-Sanders blame the ambush on an obscure YouTube video, or when we hear an exasperated Rex Tillerson exclaim "what difference at this point does it make" when asked to speculate on why four Americans lost their lives on the continent of Africa. Because from my vantage point, the number of dead and the general location are about the only things that these two tragedies have in common. I'm happy to compare the two, if you leftists prefer. It would just be weird, though, because the same group of people who said for many years that it's wrong and abhorrent to politicize the deaths of Americans are suddenly all too happy to do so...

The left always telegraphs who they fear the most. And in this case, it's a scrawny Jewish millennial who seems to have their attention. Major kudos to Nightline for highlighting two things: 1) The lengths that Conservatives need to go to just to ensure their own safety on college campuses, and 2) The utter contempt that college progressives have for the Constitution.

Am I the only one who has a problem with big cities offering huge incentives to Amazon to construct their new headquarters? Clinton on Weinstein: 'I was appalled'
Hillary says she's "appalled" by the behavior of someone who she knows well (and whose foundation received truckloads of cash), but when asked to differentiate between Harvey Weinstein's behavior and her husbands, she rambles incoherently. Happy coincidence, then, that she "broke her toe" shortly after this interview and had to cancel a lot of media that she had previously scheduled!! Her story: That she broke her toe wearing high heels and walking downstairs while holding a cup of coffee. Have you ever known Hillary Clinton to wear high heels? Initially a spokesperson said that she "twisted her ankle", Clinton herself later said that she broke her toe, but it seems as though she actually broke her metatarsal, which is a part of the foot and not the toe. This from the woman who was first "exhausted", then "dehydrated" before a video was released showing her collapsing in the street last fall, after which she was finally revealed to have "pneumonia". But totally not the contagious kind. And people still wonder why this person isn't president?

FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow
"They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill." This is not Breitbart, this is not Alex Jones, this is not Fox News. This is The Hill. My goodness, we're still doing this after nearly a year?!? This sounds a lot like the third stage of grief ("Bargaining") if you ask me, but I'm no psychiatrist. Heaven knows it's not "Acceptance"!! Why even write this article at all if, as the author says, it would be "the most extraordinary event in the history of America since the Confederate Army fired on Fort Sumter"? Catharsis for the author, perhaps, but maybe at some point people want to take a look at why the current occupant of the White House consumes so much of their attention and focus? I can't imagine that it's at all healthy. Sure, there were plenty of right-wing loons who thought Obama was never legitimate and should have been removed from office. Explaining Colin Kaepernick's Collusion Grievance Against The NFL
Explaining? This really needs to be explained? The guy doesn't want to play football, he wants to be an activist!! And his hiring of celebrity attorney Mark Geragos for this exercise in futility pretty much underlines, bolds, and italicizes that point. And it's the easiest case in the world for the owners to make, but winning this grievance isn't Kaepernick's intent. Because his standing as an activist only rises if the 31 white men (and Shahid Khan) defeat him in court. And I can't so much blame the guy. After all, if I already had millions of dollars to my name, I'd much prefer to bask in acclaim rather than having Fletcher Cox or Von Miller knock me into the stone age week after week...

But at least a LITTLE bit of coverage would be nice. The last time a sitting US senator was being tried for corruption, it was back in 2008; anybody remember what was going on back then? I don’t know you myself, but that doesn’t matter. Doctor Seuss was a good guy, but now he’s no longer Since YOU seem to like him, his works I’ll not flatter.” And so the book lady, her principles sated Went right back to work, while others debated. Was she a hero, to spit on the queen’s gift? Or was she a hypocrite, wishing her own ego to lift?

Librarian faces backlash for rejecting book donation from Melania Trump
Perhaps if one were to look hard enough, one would find similar examples of hacked off conservatives snubbing the Obamas. Or something. I guess. Anywho, if there was any doubt remaining that the progressive left will take anything - and I do mean ANYTHING - and make it political, then look no further. The problem with taking a public stance such as the one this librarian takes is that this is 2017, and there are photos of everything, including ones of this very same librarian dressed as the Cat in the Hat, which she surely didn't see as a racist symbol until Hillary was denied the White House....

Looking at this one way, he's no different than Kaepernick; he treated the anthem in a way wholly different than that of his team, and made it all about him. He made the team look bad, he made the coach look bad, and he made the team look bad. That being said, the Steelers DESERVE to be cast in a bad light for asking an army veteran to not stand for the anthem. As much as I applaud his decision and his bravery, I'm pretty sure that the Steelers locker room (and 31 others, likely) are going to be torn apart over this. Fifty-three men on every NFL team, it's inevitable that some on each will have a family member either in the armed forces or in law enforcement. You don't think those players are conflicted right now? As much as it pains me to say, the Cowboys got it right last night. Take the field and lock arms with the owner and his family and kneel, because it's important to some of the players, and then stand when the national anthem begins, because it's important to the owner. And do it all as a team. That's leadership, and it took the cosmetically-enhanced Jerry Jones to provide an answer that satisfies both sides...

Maybe I'm reading too much into a simple headline, but the article is two days old and if they were going to correct its inaccuracy, they'd have done so by now. Which only leads me to conclude that they don't actually SEE an inaccuracy. Which is weird, because Huffington Post and all the other leftist hamster cage liners have been beating folks over the head for years now, and condemning normal people for believing that something as trivial as DNA actually is what determines one's gender. The fact that they left this headline the way it is, and didn't simply replace the word "woman" with the word "female" despite the half-dozen leftists that viewed this headline before it got published, tells me that even THEY don't believe some of the leftist bullshit that they peddle on a daily basis...

Becoming A Racist: The Unfortunate Side Effect Of Serving Your Country?
When someone from my side of the political spectrum hears that someone is a veteran, they are thought of as heroes, and people who were willing to sacrifice more of themselves than most are willing to in this country. Their sacrifice is respected, in other words, and they're given the benefit of the doubt until they lose it. When someone from the other side of the spectrum hears that someone is a veteran, their first instinct is to think of them as a closeted racist, and thus have to prove themselves as worthy of respect. At least, that's how I interpret the premise of this piece. Because Huffington Post long ago has lost the right to be given the benefit of the doubt...

Sitting US Senator stands trial for corruption, and the news media yawns. Do I have to even say it? And since I watch this sort of thing religiously, it's notable that there is no mention of Menendez's party affiliation (Democrat) until a circular reference in the fourth paragraph. Now the events of this should be interesting; the judge has a long history of coming down hard on these sorts of cases. Then again, the judge was a Bill Clinton appointee, so...

I dunno, given that the DNC servers were compromised last summer, and an IT aide for the former DNC chairwoman was under investigation by the FBI, it seems like there should be a louder drumbeat for some investigation into this story. The media's lack of curiosity is curious...

Democrats Abandon Women By Saying They Will Fund Anti-Abortion Candidates
The Democrat in charge of getting other Democrats elected to the US House believes that they ought to broaden their appeal and maybe not be quite so intransigent on a few issues. He's right, of course. But his proposed flexibility is being met with exactly the same #resistance that you might expect from the open-minded sort of people on the American left. Now if one was thinking clearly and rationally, one would think that if one's ultimate goal was to get Donald Trump impeached and end this long nightmare that one believes one is in, one would do whatever is necessary to take back the House of Representatives and actually begin the formal process. But clear thinking seems to be in short supply over there these days...

Senators push bill to protect Mueller
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Republicans are never in power for very long. Was there ever any bi-partisanship to be found to investigate Fast and Furious? Benghazi? The Clinton Foundation? No, no, and no. The elected Republicans constantly act in a way that is never reciprocated by the other side of the aisle. What's unfortunate is that these virtue-signalers likely think that this is actually winning them points with people who didn't vote for them last time.

Analysis | Stephen Miller vs. Jim Acosta sent the White House news briefing completely off the rails
When Sean Spicer made the decision to not televise the daily press briefings, the loudest bitching came from none other than the preening Jim Acosta. So do not at all feel bad for him when he gets attacked from the podium, because it is richly deserved. And his combativeness on every single issue pretty much underlines and highlights and italicizes every negative stereotype that the right has of the media. There's a line between aggressive questioning and advocacy, and both CNN and Acosta crossed that line long ago...

MSNBC Cuts Lindsey Graham's Microphone When Hillary's Russian Connection Is Mentioned
Yes, I'll take Obvious Media Bias for $1,000 Alex: MSNBC sits around patiently while Lindsey Graham drones on about how concerned he is with Donald Junior's meeting with a Russian lawyer. But the moment he suggests that people should also look into whether or not there was inappropriate contact between Hillary's campaign and Russia, Kasie Hunt suddenly decides that she'd rather talk to Rand Paul, and in the process cuts Graham's audio. I know it's a business decision that these people are making and all, but shouldn't there be at least an APPEARANCE of objectivity?

Exclusive: DOJ let Russian lawyer into US before she met with Trump team
"Extraordinary circumstances", you say? Huh. Just what were these circumstances, exactly? Maybe this is a good test of just how independent this counsel actually is. Surely finding out why someone (especially a RUSSIAN!!) was explicitly allowed to remain in the US despite an expired visa is a question that should be put to the person in charge of the Justice Department at the time. That would be Loretta Lynch. I mean, what are we afraid of, right? While we're at it, we can also ask her why the hacked DNC servers were never turned over to the FBI. Again, it's pertinent to Russia, and the extent of their influence in 2016, so it should be in play, right?

Colorado Voters Are Canceling Their Registration After Trump Request For Voter Data
There are two obvious reasons one might have to request that they be de-registered to vote: - If one moves away - If one dies, in which case someone else is likely doing the de-registering The only other reason that I can think of for de-registering is if one shouldn't actually be registered in the first place. I'm stumped as to any other rational reason. Because Name, Year of Birth, Party, and Voting History (whether or not one voted, not for whom) is pretty benign information, if you ask me. And it's just that information. No Social Security number is being provided, no date of birth, no legal status, no mailing address. So the fact that there is a serious uptick in the number of people asking to be de-registered in light of this perceived threat tells me something. And the fact that the left is (predictably) up in arms about it tells me even more. If there's no fire, it's sure hard to tell through all this smoke, is all I'm saying... #nomorevacation

Corrections: June 29, 2017
Hell, this fake news was so pervasive, it was regularly quoted by Hillary Clinton in the debates!! Now in the interest of fairness, an assessment from ONE agency is too many. All the same... "A White House Memo article on Monday about President Trump’s deflections and denials about Russia referred incorrectly to the source of an intelligence assessment that said Russia orchestrated hacking attacks during last year’s presidential election. The assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community." #iwillstopobsessingwhentherestofyoudo #failingNewYorkTimes

Court rules hospital can withdraw life support for sick baby
Among the more ironic (and tragic) stories that will hit the news this year: Family wants to come to the US for (possibly) life-saving healthcare, because they can't get it at home where it's "free". Trump would win re-election today if he were to send a private plane to the UK, bring the kid and parents to Mar a Largo to receive treatment, and spare Theresa May a tremendous headache. But I get that it would set a precedent, and thus it probably won't happen. This child's plight would normally be something that our leftists friends would be shouting about from the rooftops, but then that would mean siding against socialized medicine and single payer. And since we can't have that, they're largely silent. Some might criticize me for politicizing the predicament of a ten-month old. But this is a news story entirely because of politics. I can't imagine a world where it's illegal to leave to seek treatment. What, have they suddenly become North Korea over in Britain?!?!

UW study finds Seattle’s minimum wage is costing jobs
This is a local government issue, not a federal one, so I'm not as upset about this as one might think. But a couple points here: 1) Minimum wage has the ability to hurt, as this study clearly shows, so don't believe progressives who tell you otherwise 2) The minimum wage hasn't even reached $15.00 per hour yet (it won't get there until 2021), so imagine the carnage when it does finally get there 3) Good luck ever getting the minimum wage LOWERED once it's been raised That last point is probably the most important. It's never going away in Seattle or anywhere else it's been voted in. This same principle is why Democrats are able to give away "free stuff" so readily. It may hurt them at the polls in the short tem, but they know that eventually the mean old Republicans will come in and try to take it away. And because they're Republicans, they trip over themselves and fall down, lose at the polls, the Democrats give away MORE free stuff, and the next thing you know we're trillions in debt...

Kennedy retirement watch at a fever pitch
He's the longest-tenured justice, and he's the only moderate remaining. He's inconsistently conservative, but replacing him with someone more solidly so will be an improvement, however slight. But perhaps the biggest benefit here is to have confirmation hearings for his successor, and listen to the Democrat senators from Montana, Indiana, West Virginia, North Dakota, and Missouri hem and haw about their vote knowing that they are running for re-election next year in states that Trump won bigly. So Trump actually comes at this with more than 52 votes already in hand for no matter who he nominates. And while James Comey and the frothing liberal media were clear losers, neither came off quite as poorly as Lynch. Fortunately, Republicans are beginning to realize that the Democrats are out for blood, and are now adjusting accordingly. So they might as well call Lynch to testify so that she can plead the fifth for a few hours. While we're at it, let's call Eric Holder to testify in a Fast and Furious investigation. Opinion | Bernie Sanders: How Democrats Can Stop Losing Elections
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that Bernie is looking to take another bite of the apple in 2020. I wonder if he thinks he'll be the automatic front-runner instead of the electrifying Tim Kaine? Not sure the establishment is too happy with Bernie these days; Hillary emerged from that primary race pretty wounded. But it's funny, of all the talk about collusion in the 2016 election, the only collusion we're CERTAIN of is that which the Democrats did AGAINST Bernie. Yet here he offers them policy prescriptions to improve their chances in future elections. Or so he thinks. Or maybe, he is laying the foundation for a new political party? Please, please be a new political party!!

A few things here: 1) Despite being "confused and concerned", it still didn't make Comey consider beginning the copious note-taking habit that he apparently developed under the Trump administration... 2) At his subsequent "reveal" on July 5th (one week after the Clinton-Lynch meeting), Comey basically closed the door on the "matter"... 3) Using the exact same standards that the liberals are using to attack Trump, doesn't this testimony now make Loretta Lynch just as guilty of obstruction of justice, or are the rules different when it's a Democrat asking something of their direct report?

Kathy Griffin Beheads Donald Trump in Shocking Photo Shoot (PHOTO + VIDEO)
America, circa 2008: right wing provocateur says that he hopes the incoming president "fails", and the morally indignant, self-righteous left loses their ever loving minds. America, 2017: hoping that the president fails seems downright quaint compared to the actions of this left-wing provocateur!! Look, Kathy Griffin is a talentless harpy who isn't worth anyone's attention on her BEST day. But this hateful shrew has had a regular gig on CNN, and if that network doesn't immediately condemn her behavior, well... let's just say it would play right into a certain stereotype that the right has about the media. Republicans' win in last night's Montana election is great news for Democrats
No, Vox. This is not good news for Democrats. You're forgetting that the GOP candidate has a spot of legal trouble that likely cost him votes on Election Day. You're ALSO forgetting that while the state of Montana is "redder" than many congressional districts, it ain't exactly the Deep South either. Montana has a Democrat Senator, and just re-elected their Democrat Governor last fall (when Trump was winning the state by 20 points). So it's not like the Democrats CAN'T win there. Your takeaway from the Montana race should be this: the Republicans ran a carpet-bagger who likes to manhandle people and you STILL lost. Your ideas are unpopular outside of the liberal bubbles inside the major cities. Candidates matter. But by all means, take your time reaching this conclusion...

How a dubious Russian document influenced the FBI’s handling of the Clinton probe
I'm dreadfully tired of hearing about or talking about the e-mails, but they just keep coming up. Now it seems that the honorable Jim Comey was duped by Russia into letting Clinton off the hook back in July. If Russia was hacking the election, I'd say they did a pretty poor job of it. Why, if I didn't know any better I'd swear that they actually wanted HER to win, not him!! I mean, she won the popular vote and all, right? Surely the Russians don't have better knowledge on how our electoral college system works than the Democrats, right?

Opinion | Now Montana Knows Why Early Voting Is Bad
Democrats love the early voting. Always have. Can't get enough of it. The earlier, the better!! They'd have everyone voting in September, if it was allowed!! So it is with great glee that I read of the results from Montana's special election yesterday. The Republican candidate, who got a little rough with a reporter earlier this week, wins comfortably because two thirds of Montanans had already cast their ballot. I now wait with great anticipation to hear all of the liberal condemnations of early voting, much like I heard in the wake of Trump winning the electoral college vote. Because early voting is stupid, and yesterday is why. The end.

Don't let the 10-3 ruling by the Fourth Circuit fool you; Obama appointed six of these judges, and Clinton another four. Now the only question that remains is how Anthony Kennedy feels on the matter. Tips For Washington Post Trump Articles Based On Anonymous Leaks
If you think you've heard the term "unnamed sources" a lot lately, you're simply noticing the obvious. Everyone has a story these days, but nobody seems to want to put their name behind it. And news outlets are all too happy to run with a story if it sounds interesting enough. In an era where numerous TV shows have seen their ratings improve when they took an anti-Trump stance, why should we believe that news outlets, whose primary job is to sell newspapers or mouse clicks, wouldn't also be motivated by the possibility of bigger numbers? Is it at all worth mentioning that the Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos? Look up his political affiliations and tell me with a straight face that there isn't a problem. From my personal experience, many news stories in the past few months have turned out to be just that: stories. This is why nobody of certain political persuasions trusts the media anymore.

NY public college’s choice of Linda Sarsour as commencement speaker decried
This is not a post condemning Linda Sarsour. It's also not a post condemning her controversial comments regarding Ayan Hirsi-Ali (hint: it's at least as bad as Trump's infamous quote, and it pertains to the same body part). No, this post is merely an observation that CUNY (and Dartmouth, where she's also scheduled to speak) will not have to hire extra security for her speech, and will not attempt to move it to an out of the way location. Her speech will go on. Because in an era where college speakers frequently are either rescheduled to off-peak hours, canceled, or shut down before they can even speak, Sarsour will not have to worry about that. No, this post is about how the extremists on one side of the political debate in this country have impulse control, and the other side's extremists don't. There will be no broken windows or fires set or people sent to the hospital as a result of Sarsour's address. Because the right knows how to behave, and the left doesn't. Remember that the next time someone lectures you about the "tone" of political debate these days...

Rep. Maxine Waters' confusing interview on James Comey's firing throws MSNBC host for a loop
After toiling largely in obscurity for decades, Maxine Waters has become the face of the Democratic party in recent months. This is indeed improbable, until you realize how few elected Democrats there are these days; it's pretty much down to the House members who represent the big cities, who are so safe in their districts that they can be as loony as Waters is here and pay absolutely no political price. Of all the flip-flopping that I've seen over the past two days, this episode stands head and shoulders above the rest as the most entertaining!!!
